A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide relief to the low-income segment, which was attended by Minister for Planning Asad Omar, Advisor to the Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Assistant Special Minister for Social Security Dr. Sanya Nishtar.
The meeting also proposed measures to be taken by the government to provide relief to the low income groups belonging to different sectors and to make them more effective.
Dr Sania Nishtar also apprised the Prime Minister about the progress of the ongoing Poverty Reduction Survey across the country.

It was decided at the meeting that the government would assist the people with income of less than Rs 25,000 in the purchase of rations and would help in the purchase of flour, sugar, pulses and wheat.
It said the federation and the provinces would work together to implement the decision.
Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to allocate money for ration purchase in the next budget and said that no hungry will sleep in this country, the present government will be the backbone of such a white cover.
He said that the utility stores are supporting the network to provide basic necessities to the weaker sections.
Imran Khan said that the partnership of the private sector and philanthropic government with the support of the weaker sections is praiseworthy.
The Prime Minister directed that detailed consideration should be given to provide further relief to the lower income segment so that the implementation of viable proposals could be made possible.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan has said many times that providing relief to poor people is a priority and will go to   provide relief to poor people.
In addition, utility stores have also been given a package of 10 billion from which flour, ghee and sugar are available at low prices.
