Islamabad: The inquiry committee formed on the orders of the Prime Minister has declared the flour as artificial in its report.

The report has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office by a special committee set up to find out who was responsible for the flour crisis in the country.

The committee headed by DGFIA Wajid Zia, in its report, termed the recent flour crisis as artificial, saying that there was no wheat crisis in the country, but artificial shortage was created. There are wheat reserves. The report added that the root cause of the flour and wheat crisis in the country was mismanagement.

A flour was created in the country late last year and early this year. In some parts of the country, the price of flour came to Rs 85 per kg. Flour mill owners had refused to provide Rs 40 per kg, while unabashed statements from federal and provincial ministers and government figures also created public outrage. The Prime Minister also acknowledged the government’s failure to increase the prices of flour and sugar.
