Covid positivity rate reaches 11.2pc as 26 districts declared hotspots

The coronavirus positivity rate has reached 11.21 percent in the country as 40,369 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours out of which 4,525 returned positive, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday.
The country also lost 41 people to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, with the most deaths occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .
The fresh cases have taken the national tally of positive coronavirus cases to 659,116. Out of those, 264,889 cases have been reported in Sindh, 215,227 in Punjab, 85,531 in KP, 56,450 in the federal capital, 19,525 in Balochistan, 12,484 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 5,010 in Gilgit Baltistan.
The new deaths took the countrywide death toll to 14,256. Out of which 6,246 have died in Punjab, 4,491 in Sindh, 2,301 in KP, 561 in Islamabad, 206 in Balochistan, 348 in AJK and 103 in GB.
The total active Covid-19 cases in Pakistan are 46,663 while 598,197 have recovered from the virus so far.
The NCOC on Monday also identified 26 districts of the country that have a high positivity ratio. According to figures, 14 districts of Punjab, seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and three districts in Azad Kashmir the ratio of COVID-19 positive tests has reached eight percent or above.
The highest ratio of coronavirus positive cases across the country has been 23 percent in Swat and 22 percent in Peshawar, according to the official figures.
Test positivity ratio of coronavirus in Lahore has reached alarming 17 percent and 15 percent in Rawalpindi. In Faisalabad the ratio of positive cases has been 15 percent, while it is 10 percent in Gujranwala district.
In Mandi Bahauddin district, the coronavirus positive cases ratio is 10 percent, seven percent in Gujrat, nine percent in Okara and Rahim Yar Khan districts, 12 percent in Sargodha and Sialkot and nine percent in Toba Tek Singh. The ratio of positive cases in Bahawalpur has been eight percent, while in Multan positivity rate has reached to 12 percent.
In Nowshera district, the ratio of positive cases has reached 19 percent, and in Malakand and Swabi it is 12 percent, while in Lower Dir eight percent cases reported positive.
Meanwhile, in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur and Kotli districts of Azad Kashmir, positive cases have been reported above eight percent.
In Peshawar, micro-smart lockdowns were imposed in eight areas from 6:00pm on Monday, restricting all movements. The areas where the restriction will take effect include Shaheen Town, Amjad Colony Peshawar Board, Abdul Wahab Road Wazir Bagh, Pajgi, Tauheed Colony and Shahi Khel.
According to District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia, the ratio of the cases in the federal capital on Sunday remained 15.9 percent. As many as 653 beds have been allocated in the private and government hospitals for Covid patients in Islamabad. Out of the allocated beds, 264 are still reported to be unoccupied.
Some 99 ventilators have been designated for the patients, of which 52 are currently in use.
At least 55,594 people have so far been affected by the pandemic in the federal capital, of whom 47,064 have recovered. 561 people were reported to have lost their lives to the virus. There are currently 7,969 active cases in Islamabad
