UMERKOT, The health department will launch a special campaign in Umerkot district for the eradication of measles and rubella diseases on Nov 15-27.
District Health Officer Dr Arjun Maheshwari addressing a press conference at Press Club Umerkot on Saturday said that like all over the country, special awareness campaign would start in all small and big cities of Umerkot district for eradication of measles and rubella.
Briefing the media on the occasion, focal person Dr Fareed Hingoro said that they would launch a special vaccination campaign to eradicate measles and rubella in Umerkot district in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The campaign would vaccinate children between the ages of nine months to 15 years and with this drive, children up to five years would also be vaccinated against polio, he said and added that the target had been set by Umerkot district health department.
The Focal Person said that they were conducting anti-measles and rubella vaccination programs in various cities and villages along with social organizations in order to make people aware of the diseases. Maheshwari and Hingoro appealed to the people to join them in making the drive a success.
