ISLAMABAD, : Prime Minister’s Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan informed the National Assembly on Monday that all the coalition partners of the government are on the same page and joint sitting of the parliament will be convened on Wednesday.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Dr Babar Awan said the opposition should also cooperate with the government in running business of the House in an amicable manner. He said the opposition should end the boycott of the House Business Advisory Committee and play its pivotal role for healthy debate in the Parliament.
Earlier, responding to points raised by PML-N Leader Khawaja Asif in the National Assembly, Minister for Communication Murad Saeed said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will not give NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) to anyone and will keep raising issue of corruption committed by the previous rulers.
He said the previous ruling party is known for attacking judiciary and maligning state institutions to hide corruption of its leadership.
He said a statement from the former Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan was released in the media to malign institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Planning Minister Asad Umar said the government feels no threat from Opposition’s rallies and it should wait for the next general elections, which would be held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to ensure transparency in the polling process.
Speaking on a point of order, PML-N Leader Khawaja Asif expressed concerns over the allegations leveled by former Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan and demanded of the House to hold a debate on this matter. The House will now meet at 11:00a.m tomorrow .
