ISLAMABAD,: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has accepted apology from federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati.
Azam Swati allegations regarding bribery came up for hearing before ECP Wednesday. Railway minster Azam Swati appeared before the Election Commission (EC).
Member EC Sindh Nisar Durrani said to railway minister “ Azam Swati Sahb you are busy person. Why do you not appear before EC. Enormous responsibility lies with you. All the institutions are yours. Maligning them is not good.
Azam Swati took the plea before EC that he had always raised voice for making the EC autonomous. We want no gulf remains there between government and EC. Foreign powers don’t want the right to vote is given to overseas Pakistanis. EC will be strengthened in all respects to ensure transparent elections. I have said to members of EC that all will stand with them.
Barrister Zafar Ali said before EC holding fair and transparent election is EC domain. We have already regretted what has happened in the past. Regretting before EC is responsibility of the citizens which we have discharged;.
Election commission accepted the apology from Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati besides directing them to remain careful in future.
