Planting new trees and protecting old trees is essential for maintaining ecological balance, mitigating climate change and ensuring biodiversity; Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandukhel
Quetta August 9: Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandukhel said that the government is trying to prioritize the conservation and expansion of its forests and wildlife. Planting new trees and protecting old trees is essential for maintaining ecological balance, mitigating climate change and ensuring biodiversity.
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Aggregation etc. are playing an important role for the protection and expansion of their natural resources, but their performance should also be seen through their concrete results in which we expect to see measurable progress. He expressed these views today while planting saplings at Governor House Quetta on the occasion of the commencement of monsoon planting campaign. Provincial Secretary of Forest Department Dostin Jamaldini and Principal Secretary to Governor Balochistan Hashim Khan Ghalzai were also present on this occasion.
Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandukhel said that both new plantation and protection and survival of old growth forests are mandatory. Planting thousands of lakhs of trees every year and then leaving them without making proper arrangements for their protection, if on the one hand it is the negligence of the concerned department, on the other hand it is also a waste of a large amount of provincial budget.
Governor Balochistan said that during the planting, efforts should be made to involve the entire community and to awaken the collective feeling of the safety of trees and plants planted among the people. Today we can ensure a greener, healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations only by holding ourselves and the Forest Department accountable.
