The government has issued the schedule for public and optional holidays for the year 2025, announcing a total of 40 holidays.
These include 17 public holidays and 23 optional holidays.
Key Public Holidays:
February 5: Kashmir Day
March 23: Pakistan Day
May 1: Labour Day
May 28: Youm-e-Takbeer
March 30, 31, and April 1: Eid-ul-Fitr (3 holidays)
June 7 to 9: Eid-ul-Adha (3 holidays)
July 5 and 6: 9th and 10th Muharram
August 14: Independence Day
September 5 or 6: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (ﷺ)
November 9: Iqbal Day
December 25: Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas
December 26: Post-Christmas holiday for Christian employees
Bank Holidays:
Banks will remain closed on January 1, March 1, and July 1.
Optional Holidays:
Muslim government employees can avail one optional holiday per year, while non-Muslim employees are entitled to up to three optional holidays.
Islamic Holidays:
Islamic holidays are scheduled based on expected dates and will be finalized according to the sighting of the moon.
Government Instructions:
The notification states that all government institutions must adhere to the provided holiday schedule throughout the year.
Optional holidays will be granted based on employee requests and the available quota.
This schedule will assist government employees in planning their year ahead for 2025.
