Quetta: The Election Tribunal has dismissed the petition challenging the PB-31 election results, upholding the victory of JUI’s Member of Provincial Assembly, Mir Zabad Reki, citing insufficient evidence.
Justice Abdullah Baloch of the Election Tribunal announced the verdict, stating that the evidence presented in the petition was inadequate and lacked merit, leading to its dismissal.
The petition was filed by Mujeeb ur Rehman Muhammad Hasni, alleging rigging in the PB-31 elections.
However, the petitioner and his legal counsel failed to appear consistently during the tribunal proceedings.
Legal Representation and Arguments
Mir Zabad Reki was represented by an experienced legal team comprising Kamran Murtaza Advocate, Qazi Najeeb Advocate, and Baloch Khan Advocate, who strongly defended the legitimacy of the election and termed the allegations baseless.
The Election Commission was represented by Assistant Director Shahzad Aslam and Nasir Ahmed, who emphasized the transparency of the election process during the tribunal hearings.
The tribunal ruled that the evidence provided was insufficient to substantiate the rigging claims.
It also noted that the petitioner’s repeated absence cast doubt on the seriousness of the allegations.
The tribunal confirmed the legitimacy of Mir Zabad Reki’s election and dismissed the petition.
The decision is being hailed as a significant victory for the JUI, while no statement has been issued by the petitioner so far.
This ruling is seen as a testament to the transparency of the PB-31 election process and the legal procedures in place.
