Report: Farooq Rind
A grand jirga was recently held in the border area of Brabcha, where in-depth discussions were held on various border and regional issues.
Tribal elders present at the jirga informed Brigadier Sajjad Ali about the local issues in the area.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali, the Commandant of Dera Bandi FC Headquarters, attended the jirga as a special guest.
He was accompanied by Colonel Maudood ul Hassan, Major Usman, and other senior officers.
The jirga was organized by the Pakistan Army’s Azad Kashmir Regiment in Brabcha.
During the jirga, tribal elders, citizens, and traders briefed Brigadier Sajjad Ali on issues such as the Brabcha Gate, education, health, the establishment of the Levies Police Station, the implementation of the Price Control Committee, and other concerns.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali, in his address, assured that every possible effort would be made to address fundamental issues, including health, education, transportation, and other basic needs.
He stated that the people from the province and district, who study through special education quotas to become doctors but do not prefer to work in their home province, are causing harm to government efforts.
Their absence not only discourages government initiatives but also harms the province itself.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali further stated that while education jobs are being offered on a local contract basis, local people are not performing their duties.
He urged the educated individuals in the area to activate local educational institutions so that children can receive proper education.
He informed the jirga participants that the Brabcha Gate cannot be opened for trade as it is specifically designed for cross-border movement.
He also emphasized a strict stance on human trafficking, stating that no permission would be granted for human trafficking through the border.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali also mentioned that Afghan refugees who are residing through POR or ACC cards would not be allowed to return if they leave for Afghanistan.
He added that he would approach the Deputy Commissioner to expedite the completion of the incomplete Posti-Brabcha road, ensuring that it is finished soon to facilitate easier movement for the people.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali also pledged to provide wheelchairs for disabled individuals in Brabcha and announced that monthly rations would be distributed to ten poor and underprivileged families.
Additionally, he promised to set up a free medical camp with male and female doctors from Quetta to provide free health check-ups for the people.
The jirga participants praised the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and expressed hope that the issues discussed during the jirga would soon be resolved.
Brigadier Sajjad Ali reassured the participants that every effort would be made to address their essential and basic issues, and he would inform the District Administrator about the matter.
The tribal elders of the border area of Brabcha thanked the Pakistan Army for organizing the jirga.
