RDMAC and Indus Hospital Launch Health Awareness and Screening Campaign for Local Communities

With the support of Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMAC), Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) have launched a health awareness and screening campaign in the village of Hamay, the closest community to the Reko Diq project.
The primary objective of this initiative is to provide free screening for TB, Hepatitis B, and C, as well as raise awareness about these diseases, as part of RDMAC’s commitment to providing better health facilities to local communities.
The campaign aims to educate the community about the risks, symptoms, and prevention methods of these diseases.
IHHN teams, in collaboration with local health workers, are conducting awareness sessions, focusing on the importance of Hepatitis B vaccination, the dangers of unsterilized medical equipment, and the risks associated with unsafe blood transfusions.
Additionally, the campaign emphasizes respiratory health, proper ventilation, and adherence to TB treatment protocols to reduce the spread of the disease.
One female participant expressed her thoughts on the campaign, saying: “We never thought that Hepatitis or TB were serious issues. Today, we have learned how we can protect ourselves and our families.”
The program will soon be expanded to the remote areas of Tehsil Nokundi and Chagai, ensuring that communities in these regions also have access to better healthcare facilities. As part of this initiative, IHHN’s Community Engagement and Education (CEC) team also held a health awareness session at a school in Kali Mengal Abad, attended by over 200 students.
The session covered topics such as disease prevention and personal hygiene, including proper handwashing techniques. Students were encouraged through interactive activities to share this knowledge with their families.
Identified cases during the screening will be referred to nearby hospitals for timely medical care and treatment.
