Quetta: The issue of the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old girl in Khuzdar was intensely debated in the Balochistan Assembly.

During the session, Prince Agha Umar Ahmadzai strongly condemned the incident, emphasizing that ensuring women’s safety in areas like Khuzdar is crucial.

He demanded immediate intervention from the Chief of Jhalawan and, in protest, walked out of the assembly session.

Opposition’s Stance and Walkout

Former Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, along with other opposition leaders, also criticized the silence and inaction of the administration regarding the incident.

The opposition argued that the already alarming situation of women’s safety in Balochistan is worsening due to the government’s negligence.

In response, opposition members demanded a transparent investigation and justice for the victim’s family, before staging a walkout from the session.

Background of the Incident

According to the victim’s family, a powerful individual in Khuzdar abducted the girl after she refused a marriage proposal.

They further claimed that the police and local authorities have failed to take effective action so far.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, the family has also approached tribal elders, hoping for intervention through traditional channels.

Meanwhile, protests have erupted in Khuzdar and other cities in response to the incident.

The RCD Highway remains blocked for several hours, causing severe difficulties for travelers.

Protesters are demanding the immediate recovery of the girl and strict legal action against the culprits.

Government’s Response and Future Actions

The Balochistan government has assured that the incident will be investigated, but no significant progress has been made so far.

Government representatives in the assembly stated that legal action will be taken, and justice will be ensured for the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, various political and human rights organizations have become actively involved in the case.

They have urged the government to take immediate steps to apprehend the culprits and implement stricter measures for the protection of women.
