Under the guidance of Director General GDA, Shafqat Anwar Shahwani, the workshop saw the participation of experts, academic professionals, government officials, engineers, and students.

During the workshop, experts discussed in detail the changing environmental conditions in Gwadar.

The rising sea levels pose a threat to coastal settlements, while the declining underground water levels and drainage issues have already become a major challenge for the city.

Experts stressed that all stakeholders must play a joint role in ensuring Gwadar’s sustainable development and safeguarding its future.

As part of the workshop, participants were taken on a field trip to observe the affected areas, wetlands, and drainage issues in Gwadar, providing them with a firsthand understanding of the climate challenges.

During the field visit, participants closely observed the city’s fundamental environmental problems and discussed potential solutions with experts.

The closing ceremony was attended by Superintendent Engineer of GDA, Nadir Baloch, Principal of GDA Higher Secondary School, Raja Imtiaz Hussain, Environmental Expert Dr. Pazeer Ahmed, Deputy Director of Environment Abdul Raheem Baloch, Deputy Director of HRM Nazar Mohammad, and other dignitaries.

At this occasion, certificates were distributed to the participants.

The GDA reaffirmed its commitment to continue research and practical actions to address climate change and promote sustainable development in the city.

Students and faculty from the University of Gwadar, GDA Higher Secondary School, Girls Degree College, and various other educational institutions actively participated in the workshop.

Earlier, the GDA had invited experts from NED University Karachi to Gwadar to conduct a detailed review of the city’s climate situation and potential solutions.
