Balochistan Food Authority takes action against violation of hygiene norms in Quetta and Qila Saifullah

Balochistan Food Authority teams checked food centers in Quetta and Qila Saifullah, sealed a spice factory and imposed fines on 15 owners for violating hygiene rules. On Monday, the Balochistan Food Authority team checked various food centers on Toghi Road.

Several center owners, including 1 pizza shop and 2 general stores, were fined for violating the rules. The fined pizza shop was found to have poor sanitation arrangements, lack of personal hygiene of workers, and expired drinks, snacks and banned Chinese salt were recovered from general stores, while action was taken against the unit operating without a license. The BFA operation team checked food centers late at night in Spini Road and Khizy Chowk and took strict action against 1 sweets shop, 1 baking unit, 1 restaurant and 1 pizza point for different reasons. Fines were imposed on the owners.

According to the authority officials, action was taken against the sweets shop for lack of license, against the baking unit for improper cleaning, storage of goods and pest control, and against the restaurant for preparing dishes in expired products and used and spoiled cooking oil.

Expired cold drinks were seized from the pizza corner, while action was taken against the poor personal hygiene of the workers working in the corner and the lack of masks and head covers of the workers.

During the action, expired goods and spoiled cooking oil were seized from the centers and confiscated and destroyed. Similarly, Balochistan Food Authority officials checked food centers and factories during the month of Ramadan.

1 spice factory was sealed in Satellite Town and Industrial Area Quetta for violation of laws, while action was taken against 1 papad factory and 1 spice unit and the owners were fined. According to the authority officials, despite repeated warnings against the above units, unregistered goods were manufactured and supplied.

Action was taken for poor sanitation arrangements, use of poor colors and failure to display manufacturing and expiration dates on the goods. In order to check the quality of food items in Qila Saifullah and provide quality food to the public, a late-night check was conducted in Qila Saifullah city and a fine was imposed on the bakery owner. Action was taken against the bakery for violation of SOPs, improper sanitation arrangements and sale of products made from defective ingredients.

In addition, the zonal inspection team directed the owners of several centers, general stores, samosa pakora shops and hotels during the check to adhere to hygiene rules and to trade safe and healthy goods in the shops.
