Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has termed the approval of the amendment bill to protect women from harassment at work in the Balochistan Assembly as an important development and a practical step towards a safe and secure environment for the women of Balochistan.

 

In his address during the assembly session, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Adviser on Women’s Development Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi for working on this important bill and taking the House into confidence for its approval. He said that this bill will be a source of encouragement for our women because unless women and men work together in society, progress is not possible.

 

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said that this bill not only guarantees the safety of women but also provides an environment at the workplace where women can feel safe, empowered and trusted. He said that “a law that protects women’s rights is our collective success.” He also thanked the opposition members who contributed to this important legislation.

 

“I congratulate the entire House that a bill has been passed today that will create an atmosphere of security, confidence and encouragement for women at their workplace,” the Chief Minister said. He said that the Balochistan government believes that development is possible only when women are given equal opportunities, protection and respect. “This bill actually reflects our resolve that we stand with women and will provide them with all possible protection.”

 

At the end of the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated all concerned, including Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, for preparing and approving an effective and comprehensive law.
