Deputy Commissioner Kalat , Munir Ahmed Durrani, chaired a district-level meeting to review preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign scheduled from February 2 to February 5, 2026.
Health officials informed the meeting that 39,636 children across 19 union councils in two tehsils of Kalat district would be administered polio drops during the campaign. WHO representatives provided a detailed briefing on operational planning and surveillance mechanisms.
Addressing participants, the deputy commissioner stressed that polio remains a serious threat and urged collective efforts to protect children from permanent disability. He emphasized the role of religious leaders, journalists, civil society, and community influencers in raising awareness and countering misinformation.
He directed monitoring teams to ensure no child is missed and warned that negligence would not be tolerated. Teams demonstrating outstanding performance would be encouraged and acknowledged.
The administration reiterated its commitment to conducting the campaign with full seriousness, effective supervision, and strong community engagement to achieve polio-free status.
