Chaman | Jan 11, 2026:
The Awami National Party (ANP) organized a large protest rally and public gathering in Chaman, voicing serious concerns over deteriorating law and order, prolonged electricity load-shedding, alleged illegal recruitments, and restrictions on border trade.
The rally passed through various city roads before converging at Bacha Khan Markaz, where party leaders strongly criticized the government and local administration for what they termed governance failures. Speakers alleged illegal detention of political workers, worsening security, extortion on the Quetta–Chaman highway, and prolonged unannounced power outages.
ANP leaders also raised objections to alleged favoritism and corruption in recruitments within the Levies force and other departments. They rejected the decision to merge Levies with police, calling it anti-public and harmful to local security.
Addressing participants, ANP leaders warned that if public grievances were not addressed immediately, the party would expand its protest movement. Protesters chanted slogans against bad governance, economic hardship, and electricity shortages, while demanding restoration of peace, transparency, and basic civic services.
