Quetta, Jan 12:
Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrullah Badini, has directed strict enforcement against bakeries found selling bread at inflated prices or below standard weight, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy to protect citizens from economic exploitation.
The order came during a high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, attended by all Assistant Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue and General), to address repeated complaints about unauthorized price hikes and underweight bread in the city.
Officials reviewed government-notified bread prices and standard weights in detail, with the Deputy Commissioner stressing that violations would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Bakeries found guilty of manipulating prices or weights will face fines, shop closures, and legal action.
Assistant Commissioners were instructed to carry out daily inspections in their respective areas, ensuring that citizens receive bread at approved rates and weights. The Deputy Commissioner added that monitoring mechanisms would be strengthened, and enforcement actions against violators would continue without interruption to safeguard public interest.
