Rekodik Mining Company (RDMC) in collaboration with RDMC’s Community Development Committees (CDCs) organized a prestigious scholarship award ceremony in Nokkundi to encourage students who have excelled in the field of education. 53 meritorious students from Chagai district, including 19 girls, participated in the event.
These students were given fully funded scholarships by RDMC to pursue their studies in various universities across Pakistan after completing a six-month foundation course at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Sukkur.
Parents of the students and community members were also present on this important occasion and appreciated the achievement.
Speaking at the event, Ashley Price, Head of Sustainability at RDMC, reiterated the company’s and CDCs’ commitment to putting people’s well-being at the heart of development, saying: “Sustainability is about investing in people. Education is the foundation of strong and resilient communities, and every student here has earned this opportunity through hard work and dedication.
Their success reflects the support of families and communities who believe higher education is within their reach.”
Members of the Community Development Committees from Nokundi, Hume and Fan Sediments also spoke at the event.
They commended RDMC for its continued efforts in community development and reiterated their commitment to continue working with the company for the long-term benefit of local communities.
The scholarship recipients were also presented with certificates, who will now embark on a program that aims to improve their academic skills, build confidence and prepare them for admission to universities across Pakistan.
RDMC General Manager Ryan Mitchell congratulated the students, saying: “Your success is not just personal, but also a success for your communities and the region as a whole. With this opportunity comes a responsibility to play a positive role in the betterment of your community.”
He also appreciated the leadership of CDC members in aligning RDMC’s community projects with local needs.
RDMC prioritizes inclusive and sustainable development, which is based on education.
This scholarship program is one of several initiatives being undertaken in partnership with local CDCs, ranging from supporting early childhood education to scholarships for deserving students from Balochistan who are already pursuing higher education.
