Quetta, Jan 20: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired the 22nd provincial cabinet meeting, announcing that from February 1, no forced disappearances will occur under government authority. Bugti emphasized that missing persons cases have long been used as propaganda against the state, though similar incidents are higher in other provinces. The cabinet approved the Balochistan Prevention of Detention and Deradicalization Act 2025 and its rules, establishing designated centers for investigation with family notification, counseling, and strict legal oversight.
The cabinet also approved the Balochistan Reproductive Health Rights Bill 2026, creating new divisions—Pishin and Koh-e-Suleman—and merging Ziarat into Loralai. Administrative reforms included municipal committee creation, child labor eradication, and digital recruitment systems. Bugti termed these initiatives as practical governance examples aimed at improving public trust, legal compliance, and health rights, including maternal and child welfare.
