Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences Quetta One Day Seminar on “Non-Human Viruses and Future Threats”.
Quetta 7th August, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta organized a one-day seminar and panel discussion on “Non-Human Viruses and Future Threats” jointly hosted by Pakistan Academy of Sciences, ANSO and Quaid-e-Azam University. .
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shabbir Ahmed Lahri welcomed the guests and informed them about the development of the university and the objectives of the event. Chief guest Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa emphasized on joint research in virology using modern technologies for accurate diagnosis. Professor Dr. Saeed Khan and Dr. Ali from Dow University Karachi, among other renowned experts, spoke about virology and the impact of climate change on viruses. I presented an insightful talk.
The event focused on non-human viruses such as corona virus, congo virus, influenza virus, bird flu and others. Participants from various fields participated, including medical sciences, medical experts, academics, students, veterinary, and biotechnologists. Faculty of Basic Sciences, College of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, organized the event. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farida Kakar thanked the guests.

Shields and souvenirs were distributed among the panelists, and Prof. Dr. Syed Rauf Shah, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Riaz Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences awarded certificates to the students. The panelists included experts from various institutions who demonstrated a collaborative spirit. Dr. Saeed Khan, Dr. Ali, Dr. Idris, Dr. Safia Mangal, Prof. Dr. Farida Kakar, and Prof. Dr. Nadeem Samad presented on various topics, including AIDS and CCHF-Congo virus. The objective of the panel discussion was to raise awareness of emerging threats from non-human viruses and the need for collaborative research to address these threats, promoting a deeper understanding of virology in Pakistan. It is an important step towards giving and promoting interdisciplinary research.
