TURBAT: Pakistan
Peoples Party (PPP) Member of the National Assembly (MNA), Haji Malik Shah Gorgij, visited Makran Medical College (MMC), Turbat, and assured the administration and students of his all-out efforts to resolve the issues faced by the institution.
During the visit, the MNA inspected various facilities, including the college library, laboratories, classrooms, and other academic departments.
He held interactive sessions with male and female students as well as faculty members, listening intently to their concerns and challenges.
Addressing the attendees, Haji Malik Shah Gorgij highlighted steps already taken for healthcare improvement, noting that a cath lab and an ambulance had previously been provided to Teaching Hospital Turbat. He further added that, in his capacity as chairman of the welfare committee and with the support of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), an endoscopy machine has also been provided.
This addition is expected to facilitate modern medical treatment for patients and significantly enhance practical training opportunities for medical students.
Addressing administrative concerns, the MNA assured the staff that the long-standing issue of delayed salaries for faculty members would be strongly taken up during the expected visit of the Chief Minister of Balochistan to Turbat to ensure a permanent solution.
Furthermore, the MNA announced that special funds would be allocated for study tours, allowing students to visit major teaching hospitals in Karachi to broaden their exposure.
He also pledged practical steps for the establishment of a modern digital library and the solarization of the existing library building.
Earlier on the occasion, Principal Dr. Afzal Khaliq and Vice Principal Dr. Adil briefed the MNA regarding ongoing academic activities and the specific challenges faced by the college.
