Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken strict notice of an incident involving alleged police torture of a citizen arrested during a strike, terming the act unacceptable and against the rule of law. Expressing strong displeasure over a police officer slapping the detained individual, the chief minister stated that violations of the law would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He emphasized that police officials must perform their duties strictly within legal boundaries and that misuse of authority would not be allowed. The chief minister said protection of citizens’ dignity is a fundamental responsibility of the state and an essential part of professional policing standards. He directed concerned authorities to ensure transparent, impartial, and swift legal action against those involved so that justice is served and similar incidents are prevented in the future.

Following the chief minister’s intervention, the DPO Chaman suspended two police officers allegedly involved in the incident and ordered a formal inquiry. Reaffirming his stance, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the Balochistan government remains committed to upholding the supremacy of law, safeguarding human rights, and ensuring fair treatment of all citizens, adding that no government official is above the law.
