The inhumane treatment of Baloch prisoners in Mach Central Jail has become a concerning issue.

According to reports, the jail superintendent, Khurram Riaz, a resident of Rawalpindi-Islamabad and of Punjabi ethnicity, is allegedly misusing his authority to violate the human and cultural rights of Baloch prisoners.

Sources claim that under Khurram Riaz’s orders, Baloch prisoners are being prohibited from wearing their traditional attire, specifically the Balochi shalwar and cap.

Prison guards, particularly Saifullah (alias Saifo) and Ashiq, are reportedly cutting Baloch prisoners’ caps and shalwars with scissors.

This act is not only a serious violation of human rights but also an insult to Baloch culture.

Furthermore, visitors coming to meet the prisoners are also subjected to humiliating treatment.

Their turbans and, in the case of women, their dupattas are forcibly removed, and they are compelled to take off their shoes and boots before entering the jail premises.

Such actions are a blatant disregard for human dignity and fundamental rights.

As a result of these harsh conditions, many Baloch prisoners are experiencing severe mental distress, with some reportedly driven to the brink of suicide.

This situation constitutes a clear violation of international human rights principles and demands immediate attention.

We appeal to human rights activists, social organizations, and relevant authorities to take urgent notice of these atrocities against Baloch prisoners in Mach Jail.

This is not the time for silence—it is time to become the voice of these prisoners and take concrete steps to restore their fundamental rights.

Let us stand together to protect human rights and raise our voices against the inhumane treatment taking place in Mach Jail.
